About Us |
|
Snowflake Farms is owned by Deanna and Daniel Britton. It began in October/November, 2002, with the arrival of six beautiful Suri alpacas — two from Los Angeles and four from Maryland. In five years, we have had over 20 alpacas on our farm. Currently there are 15 living here. After working in computer manufacturing for 23 years — in Burlington, Vermont for 10 years and Silicon Valley, California for 13 years; it was time to relax, get out of corporate life and back to basics in our beautiful home state of Vermont. Living in the quiet, rural town of Benson gives us the peace and tranquility that we wanted, far away from the craziness of Silicon Valley and the bustle of Burlington. In addition to learning to care for alpacas and a 48 acre farm over the past five years, I have learned to process fiber — which includes skirting, washing, carding and spinning to make yarn. I’m also learning to felt, both wet and dry, and I’ve dusted off my knitting and crocheting needles that haven’t been used for nearly 30 years. Hopefully, in 2008, I’ll have enough inventory from alpaca fiber to open a small shop and to sell alpaca products here on the internet. This web site is designed and written by Deanna Britton and hosted by Web Blade which is owned and operated by Deanna’s son, Marc Vance of Westmoreland, NH.
